Short Answer:  Bang energy drink has 300mg caffeine, zero calories, and zero sugar in one 16oz serving of can.

Sodas and regular drinks can shock your brain system with high amounts of sugar and caffeine. They can give you sudden energy jolts that are eventually followed by a sugar or caffeine crash that does more bad than good.

Most soda and energy drinks give you energy and flavors, but they aren’t doing any healthy favors to your body when it comes to nutrients. But consider Bang different. It is an energy drink that is gaining popularity because of its nutrition claims. The ingredients make it stand in stark contrast to other energy drinks like Rockstar or Monster.

Is Bang is a nutritious drink? Let’s find out.

Does Bang energy have a lot of sugar?

No, Bang doesn’t contain sugar. It is a sugar-free energy drink with zero calories.

Because it has excellent taste and comes in many delicious flavors, people often mistake the sweetness of Bang with sugar. The sweet flavor of the Bang energy drink comes from artificial sweeteners: Sucralose and Acesulfame Potassium.

These artificial sweeteners are added in trace amounts and don’t contain extra calories.

How much caffeine is in a Bang energy?

Bang energy contains 300mg caffeine in a 16 fl. oz. can.

Caffeine is one of the main ingredients of the bang energy drink. As the FDA recommends only 400mg of caffeine is needed per day for adults, thus making bang energy a not-so-healthy drink for people who take coffee or other caffeine drinks.

To stay within the healthy boundaries of caffeine, try only having one can of Bang energy a day. One can has 300 mg of caffeine, and while that isn’t above the recommended amount, it’s still incredibly high for one can. Having another one can easily get you past the FDA’s set limit.

Not many people know that there are different sources of caffeine that are used in energy drinks. There is a natural one, plant-based caffeine, but there are also those that are synthetically manufactured.

Most soft and energy drinks use synthetic caffeine. Where natural plant-based caffeine takes 30 to 40 minutes to absorb in your body, synthetically produced caffeine gets absorbed in the body way faster and gives you an instant energy jolt. However, it can also lead to a caffeine crash.

Now the question is, where does Bang source its caffeine from? The ingredient list has not been explicitly mentioned so we can’t determine whether it uses natural caffeine or synthetic based.

Is a Bang healthier than a Monster?

Personally, I think Bang is much healthier than Monster energy drink. Bang is a drink that is sugar-free and contains amino acids, electrolytes, many healthy vitamins, and minerals, whereas Monster includes 54g of sugar, leading to potential sugar crashes.

Plus, Monster energy drink is high in calories (210 per can) and is not an ideal drink for someone conscious about their calories intake.

Bang has essential amino acids (EAAs) that enhance your physical performance. It contains many electrolytes that keep your body hydrated after sweating.

Some beneficiary ingredients are not present in Monster; hence, it is not as effective as Bang energy drink.

On the other hand, Bang also contains a high amount of caffeine which is not suitable for people with caffeine sensitivity.

In conclusion, Bang energy is a lot healthier than a Monster energy drink in terms of sugar content, but it is still high in caffeine and can be detrimental to those who are sensitive to caffeine. It’s not for everyone.

Are there any unhealthy ingredients in Bang energy?

Bang is not a 100% healthy energy drink. It contains very high amounts of caffeine that can have serious side effects.

Bang energy drink comes with a warning on the label itself: “Too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, and occasionally rapid heartbeat.”

Besides caffeine, Bang also includes the formula of the potent brain and body-rocking fuel made of caffeine, super Creatine, CoQ10, Super EAAs. The brand didn’t specify how much quantity of these ingredients are used in drinks but one lab test found some exciting results.

The one can of Bang energy contains about 63.86mg of CoQ10. Moreover, lab tests showed only 3 essential amino acids when the brand claimed they had nine different amino acids.

Are artificial sweeteners in Bang good?

Bang uses artificial sweeteners sucralose and acesulfame potassium which are safe to consume.

Sucralose

Sucralose is used in many soft drinks, including Bang and Monster. These are declared safe to consume by the U.S Food Drug Administration.

It is twice sweeter than sugar and only has a few calories. Despite being 600 times sweeter than sucrose, the digestive system doesn’t actually absorb the calories in sucralose, making it almost noncaloric.

It is safe as long as you consume it in moderation.

Acesulfame potassium

Acesulfame potassium is also a calorie-free ingredient and is 200 times sweeter than sugar. It is also known as acesulfame K or ace-K.

It is another non-nutritive sweetener. You can find it under the brand names Sunett and Sweet One. Many brands use acesulfame potassium as a substitute for sugar in calorie-free products such as baked goods, drinks, and dairy products.

These artificial sweeteners can be an excellent alternative to sugar. Still, many studies have found that their effect on insulin and blood sugar depends upon whether you consume them regularly or not.

One study even found that sucralose increased insulin levels by 20% and blood sugar levels by 14% in overweight people who didn’t regularly consume sweeteners. Another study shows that artificial sweeteners can raise your appetite and crave more sugary food, leading to weight gain.

In summary, high intakes of artificial sweeteners can lead to the potential risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome in the long term.

Are Bang Energy Drinks Safe To Drink?

Bang energy drinks are safe to consume in moderation. In general, energy drinks are considered unhealthy and people with underlying health conditions and teens should avoid consuming them at all costs.

Overall, I would recommend limiting your consumption. There are other ways to get the energy boost that you can try:

  • Having carbohydrates and protein pack snacks like fruits. The combo of protein and carb gives the body immense energy.
  • Eating a piece of dark chocolate as it contains caffeine and antioxidants that improve brain function.
  • Getting enough sleep at least six to eight hours a night.
  • Work out regularly, even if you do it for 15 minutes.

Wrapping Up

In summary, Bang energy is high in caffeine but low in calories because instead of using sugar, they use artificial sweeteners that have little to no calorie content like sucralose. They also contain amino acids which can enhance physical performance.

Although the nutrition contents of Bang energy are a lot better than some energy drinks, it’s still important to be careful in the consumption of Bang. The drink is high in caffeine and even though it has no sugar, it contains artificial sweeteners which, if consumed in high amounts, carry potential health threats.

Bang energy drink is safe to consume but only in moderate amounts. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend any energy drink as part of your daily diet. Instead, I suggest water. They’re much healthier and hydrating.
