What’s the difference between Bang and Red Bull?

Bang and Red Bull differ in terms of caffeine, sugar, calories, flavors, and size of the can. Bang energy is packaged in 16 fl. oz. while Red Bull usually sold out in 8.4 fl oz can size.

The main difference is caffeine. Bang has the highest amount of caffeine and Red Bull only contains a relatively average caffeine amount.

Let’s compare these differences separately, one by one.

Caffeine

a bottle of caffeine pills

Bang contains 300 mg of anhydrous caffeine, while Red Bull contains only 80 mg of regular caffeine per serving.

Regular caffeine is the caffeine you consume through coffee and tea. It comes from natural sources like green coffee beans and tea leaves.

Caffeine anhydrous also comes from natural sources like leaves and seeds. However, they go through laboratory processes to get the water and other components filtered out.  Anhydrous caffeine is more potent and concentrated compared to regular caffeine.

Red Bull is the safest option in terms of caffeine as Bang caffeine content is almost close to the recommended daily limit of caffeine suggested by the FDA. An excessive amount of caffeine can lead to adverse side effects such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Muscle breakdown
  • Digestive Issues
  • Caffeine addiction
  • High blood pressure
  • Fatigue
  • Rapid heart rate

Sugar

Bang contains zero sugar, while Red bull has as much as 27g of sugar.

Although Bang is sugar-free, it still contains artificial sweeteners, sucralose, and acesulfame potassium.

Bang is a much better option compared to Red Bull because it is sugar-free and does not cause sugar crashes.

Red Bull contains more sugar than the recommended limit amount of sugar for women. According to AHA, the safe amount of daily sugar for women is 25 g and for men is 36g. Too much sugar can cause many sugar-related health problems such as weight gain, sugar crashes, and diabetes.

So if you prefer some sugar-free drink or you want to avoid sugar crashes, then Bang is the better option for you.

Price

The price of one Bang and Red Bull is quite similar. One can of Bang energy drink comes in a $3 price tag, while Red Bull costs $2 for one can.

On Amazon, the average cost of a 12 Bang energy drink pack is around $32, whereas a 12-pack of Red Bull is cost around $24.

Bang is a little more expensive than Red Bull, but that’s probably because of size and content difference. Remember, Bang usually comes in 16 fl. oz meanwhile Red Bull comes in 8 fl. oz.

Will Bang give you more energy?

Cans of Bang lined up

Yes, Bang gives you more energy as it contains a massive amount of caffeine per serving.

One can of standard size Bang energy contains 300mg caffeine. Unlike other famous energy drinks that are high in sugar and calories, Bang has zero calories, making it a great pre-workout drink.

The most powerful one among all Bang Energy varieties is their Redline Xtreme. In a standard size of 8 fl oz, Redline Xtreme contains a whooping 316mg caffeine, making it one of the most potent energetic drinks.

So if you are looking for one can that gives you the maximum energy shot, you should give Redline Xtreme from Bang Energy line a fair chance.

However, people who never consumed caffeine before or are caffeine sensitive should avoid the drink.

Is Red Bull healthier than Bang?

A can of Red Bull in ice.

If we see it from the caffeine content perspective, then Red Bull is much healthier than Bang. One can of Red Bull only contains 75 mg of caffeine, while Bang energy has 300mg of caffeine.

The high amount of caffeine in Bang makes it one of the most potent energy drinks. But it also makes it dangerous for caffeine-sensitive people.

Red Bull contains safe doses of caffeine while drinking more than one can of Bang energy can increase the risk of caffeine overdose

However, Red Bull might be low in caffeine, but it contains sugar and other ingredients that are not so healthy for you. A study shows that healthy adults who consumed Red Bull showed symptoms of high blood pressure and increased heart rate within 90 minutes of drinking Red Bull.

Moreover, Red Bull contains 29 grams of sugar in a 260ml serving meanwhile Bang is sugar-free.

Research has found that sugar-sweetened beverages are linked with a 26% increased risk of type 2 diabetes. Another study was done on rats showing that high consumption of Red Bull can lead to kidney failure.

The healthier drink depends upon your underlying health conditions. Personally, I consider neither Red Bull nor Bang energy as a healthy drink. Their purpose is literally just to wake us up and give us a quick boost of energy.

Granted, there are some benefits, but the downsides outweigh the goods. It’s best to just limit ourselves and only drink these energy drinks when needed.

Final Verdict: Which one is better?

Both Bang and Red Bull are good energy drinks that offer excellent energy-boosting benefits at a reasonable price tag.

Which one you choose depends on your own personal preference and how much caffeine you can handle in one serving.

If you are caffeine sensitive, then Bang is not for you, and if you are calories conscious, then Red Bull is not a good drink for your diet. If you have diabetes, Bang is the better option as it contains zero sugar while Red bull includes a high amount of sugar in it.

Apart from these few differences, both are market bestsellers for energy drinks. The best way to find out which one is better for you is by trying out both first and sticking with the one you like.

Just remember to always take these beverages in moderation because a high intake of energy drinks can affect your health negatively.
